Kathryn Bigelow – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Hearing the news about her recent nomination for an Oscar, I wonder if  The Hurt Lock will win out over Avatar. More than just a curiosity, she co-directed my first motion picture to style hair and makeup on.

Her movies have always been a hit in the film festival ciruit.

Another first for that film: Willem Dafoe, in his first lead  role as a Marlon Brando type biker, set in the 50′s. His career has spanned over three decades. In character for his role in The Loveless.

Something you might find interesting is that we both went to art school then turned to production as our form of art. Congratulations Kathryn.

After many weeks of classes leading up to State Board exams, I can announce here that I have been re-licensed in Cosmetology. The funny thing about this is what I have discovered about the Cosmetology trade as it relates to salons and spas these days. Even the education is interesting. Today’s standard for the school I attended is the very same I introduced to the south in the 70′s. Now in retrospect to view this and to see it’s relevance to today’s stylists, it’s exciting to watch how it has changed so much of the industry. New product, methods, salon….to start off with. Let me know if I can be of any assistance. thanks, Michael

    Adam’s Haircolor

    YouTube video

Watch as Michael Tyler of  the styling reveals the new change in singer Adam Foster’s hair and see his reaction. For this mane, our stylist looked for a gentle choice. An Eco friendly product that is water-activated. Whenever possible, he uses a permanent hair color without ammonia and without hydrogen peroxide. Something with a no-lift (lightening) action, a product that is less damaging than ordinary hair color products.

    history

These two creative type guys start talking while taking a tour of  ICON in downtown Nashville.  Adam started to share that  his move to Tennessee has furthered his singing and songwriting career. Then Michael talked about his styling  film and motion pictures in and around Tennessee. Soon, they were both talking about working together to come up with a style that would be an asset for Adam. One he could mange with little fuss, yet identify him with today’s music industry.

    vision

Michael went home, looked Adam up on line, listened to his tunes and began to have a vision for that identity.  A couple of emails later, over lunch they agreed where to begin by mapping the direction then planning on the best way to get there.

As the vision started coming together Michael suggested checking the availability of photographer Scot Mechling for the best picture. As soon as the date for the shoot was on the books, the last detail to decide on was for location. Everyone agreed it should be the  Parthenon at Centennial Park.

Future posts will include how the team planned and decided on wardrobe. Then, once our photographer Scot edits to the best of the best from our shoot Saturday, we hope to share them here with you.
