Fall has begun to show it’s colors, and here in Nashville there’s a lot more color showing for Stylists. Story telling has always been an interest and recently I have begun to explore the career of Story Telling. Working in the motion picture industry gives me a lot of potential content to pull from. Whether it is with the story tellers who write lyrics and tunes, or visual artists telling with the written letter, shapes and colors, or simply in the face of a child telling her story, there is something common found in all the pictures used to bring this image together on the left.
If you ask a story teller whether or not they are an artist you are likely to get responses ranging from humble “no not really” to “Yes, let me share a recent story with you”. On the other hand, if you ask an artist, your answer will be dictated by their discipline. All of their answers apply. Stories help the imagination to see things that weren’t there before. Words hint or clearly define, according to the taskmaster putting them together. This isn’t enough to always guarantee prosperity financially. It is usually a step toward an emotional breakthrough. If you were fortunate, you were encouraged starting at a young age to be creative. If not, you sometimes have to look for support of that nature. Today the internet has resources galore for support and direction.
One in particular I would like to suggest is titled IAM. That stands for International Arts Movement. http://www.internationalartsmovement.org IAM is a good place to start to find dialogue and adventure. Meet fellow artists and make new friends. Post your comments, I would really like to hear back from you with your opinion and any suggestions of content we could provide for you here. Michael
