    Brides are beautiful

\Yesterday my work took me to the home of a beautiful bride to be in Murfressboro, TN, where we planned to photograph her alongside her chosen fiance. What did I take with me for this event? I took my makeup box, two hair bags, the studio chair and a mirror. Did I mention the string of pearls? Yes, pearls are always good for a bride. Ever wonder how to choose the best pearls? Ask you local jeweler for advice. They will be happy to help.

When Ken, the photographer arrived, we chose the location for the photoshoot. It’s very important as a stylist to look at every detail on a job. Is the background suitable? What does the wardrobe say? Does the subject’s appearance make the intended statement?

Right after I set up my tools, I chose the wardrobe for the bride and groom. They had one look in mind, and when I started talking to them, they were pleased to see I had given a lot of time and consideration about what look would give them what they wanted. Something that would showcase their individual style, and yet make them a beautiful couple. Keeping them in colors that would accentuate their skin tone, we stayed away from strong colors. Instead, we chose shades of grey for them both. A long sleeved T for him. A white camisole  along with a knit V-neck top for her. It’s best to keep white to a minimum when photographing a closeup or head shot because it can interfere with the white balance of the camera metering.

After much discussion over new techniques for working with her eyes, to her delight, I added individual lash clusters to give her eyes a new presence replacing most of her dark upper lid liner. Listen, when you do this, your look can be categorized as natural beauty. Why do you think all the girls in Hollywood use them?

Then, brushing on a pink tinted gloss and accent with a natural tinted lip pencil, she was now ready for any event. Today our focus is the engagement photo. Then to some great restaraunt afterwards. Murfreesboro is noted for it’s tasty choices of places to eat.

Next, her fiance and his look. With some encouragement, he sat in the chair and I snipped a bit of the length at the nape of his neck, touched up some discorolation under his eyes with a bit of highly pigmented HDTV product, texturized his hair with special styling cement and they were both ready.

In front of the camera together, they glowed. Such happiness and excitement, a beauty to behold. The perfect couple. Check back soon because I will be posting images as soon as Ken hands them over.
